Maniacs on the road

September 30, 2006 · 9 Comments

I was inspired to make this post after reading a post from Momsgather.

1.Drive to Malacca yesterday

I had to drive down to Malacca yesterday. It was a pleasant drive down despite the road works along NKVE and reached Malacca in about 2 hours+. However, the drive back was not as good as I left Malacca around 5 pm. As the time approaches 6 pm I noticed some crazy drivers speeding like mad. Weyo? Time to break fast la. Ayo, so gian to break fast dunwan life meh..I was overtaking also when there was this car that came so close my back, I really hate drivers liddat, so dangerous. Just give me a flash and I will know what to do wat! Well, she, yes a she and wearing tudung also, was tailing me so close but I didn’t bother about her cos I want to overtake the next few cars too! Dun tell me I have to slow down just to let her go and then speed up again meh! Ayooooooo…not long after that another guy who is also obviously rushing home to break fast was tailing me again.

2.Stop-Look-Go

Familiar with this line? Meaning, see a STOP sign, means, STOP the vehicle, LOOK out for cars and GO when it’s clear.

Ok, there is this weird juntion that leads to my mom’s place (pix on the left). There was a Pajero coming from the left on the top of the T and there was an Altis coming from the road perpendicular to the straight road. The Altis is supposed to have the right of way but the Pajero just drove straight without stopping despite Altis honking at him. Usually first time visitors are kinda excused for missing the stop sign due to the bushes and trees the council planted. But then hor, there is a straight white line across the road leh, how they pass undang-undang (traffic rules) ah? So the Altis was very angry, and when Pajero swerved one side to try to avoid road bump (that road bump ah cannot avoid one lor, sure one wheel have to go over the bump but I don’t know why some drivers still do that), Altis actually stopped the car, wound down the window and tried to reason with the Pajero! Wah, that Pajero guy was like so fierce, didn’t admit mistake obviously and started to curse using sign language! Shiaks man! Then the Pajero sped up and overtook the Altis despite one car coming from the opposite direction. The Pajero then stopped the car and waited! He was like looking for a fight liddat! Than Altis guy’s balls must have shrunk till like peanuts ok cos he didn’t take any action! I was telling hubby, if Pajero guy comes out to pick a fight, I will sure go down and help tumbuk him! Hubby said no need, just take pictures la..AIYA!!!! That reminded me…forgot to take pictures! Cheh!
3. Give way lane
This happened quite some time ago when I was driving my hubby’s car which was a faster car. I was going into a lane where I had to give way for ongoing traffic. So I naturally stopped to look out for cars la, me baca buku and know my undang-undang one wat! There was this bozo driving a BMW who didn’t notice I stopped so he had to brake till his tires botak leow! He then angrily over took me and showed me the finger! I was like what the hell?? So I made a sign back, scissors cutting the FINGER! (try and imagine how la!) Wah he got so mad that he stopped the car and got out summore! Wah this guy memang didn’t baca buku despite the fact he was descently dressed and had an elderly passenger in the car. I was like waiting for him to walk over so I could drive off leaving him standing there like an idiot but he didn’t as I think the lady in the car (could be the mother) asked him to get back in. It’s like what’s he thinking? His feet can be faster than my wheels ah?? Bozo! Then he was trying to be funny and turning his car from one lane to another not allowing me to overtake him! Then came a Storm whom I think saw what he was doing. The Storm kind of drove very slowly and then I managed to overtake him and I actually waved at him with the most triumphant grin on my face! Wah he was so mad and eventhough I couldn’t hear him, I was sure he was major cursing at me! Bluekkkkk!

Posting Greeting Cards

September 28, 2006 · 16 Comments

Wah today new discovery at Pos Malaysia. We send greeting cards for the 2 major festive seasons every year and only today I found out about the standard and requirements. Last year we sent it at RM0.45 so this year I decided to check out the cost since we changed to a smaller and hence lighter card.

Me - How much postage is required for this Hari Raya Card?

Postgirl - 50 sen.

Me - Huh? Wah so expensive one?? Why leh?

Postgirl - Oh because you used stick on a label for the address and you stamped the sender address at the wrong place. So this is considered non-standard.

Me - Huh?!!?

Postgirl - You should stamp the sender’s address on top left corner of envelope and not use the stick on labels for standard cost at 30 sen only.

Me - Wah, that’s 20 sen savings and times by 100 cards it’s like RM20.00 savings leh!

(Eh to Laundryamah’s small business, every sen counts leh!)

So folks, remember, when sending greeting cards, make sure follow the standard requirements if not end up paying more for nothing! The labels also cost a bomb too but then I was fortunate to have someone very nice who donated a few boxes to me last time…hehehe..

How good a wife are you

September 27, 2006 · 13 Comments

Ok I cannot say I’m a good wife but I think I’m not a bad wife either. But yesterday I heard one very bizarre story of a certain woman who married a man as old as her father. Many would think sure the young wife will take very good care of the older husband but not this case lor.

Ok why leh? She doesn’t cook for the herself so of course doesn’t cook for the husband la. But then hor, when husband was sick, cincai la can cook just a pot of porridge ma..what’s so difficult? Ayo, she not only didn’t bother to cook but just left him a packet of instant noodles! Err..the noodles still intact in the packet…how to eat leh? Liddat oso can??

Autumn Festival

September 26, 2006 · 15 Comments

I really look forward to this festival each year cos mainly of my cravings for mooncakes. Strangely enough, both myself, LaundryAhPah and Kieran are crazy over mooncakes. My family call us the Moonface Family cos we love mooncakes so much!

Another fun part of the festival is the lantern part…it brings back memories to me as I never fail to burn my lantern each year! Yes…so sad hor…and my brother will always laugh at me and sing this; “For siu tang lung tai tai kor lung…” (fire burnt lantern till big big hole appears) in one irritating tune!

Last year Kieran got a spiderman lantern and this year a superman lantern! Thanks to grandma of course!

Kylie couldn’t participate as yet but she got bitten by nasty mozzies while just looking from a far..

Speaking of Kylie, I was just bragging to Oscar’s mom that she’s quite strong maybe due to the fact that she eats so well and picks up food from the floor and her drinking cup is dirty all the time thanks to my lazy good for nothing maid. So I said, her resistance is built up from the exposure to such situations! But unfortunately, she developed a cough and had fever this morning at about 5 a.m. She was not making noise but I woke up and just felt like checking on her! Amazing motherly instincts! Gave her the fever medicine and then milk and she was one happy camper running around and trying to wake kor kor up! Daddy was very grumpy as he was flying off this morning and once he got ready, Kylie started coughing and when he went to her she threw up all over him!! See what happens to grouchy daddies? They suffer more! ok ok…not funny cos he ran out of pressed pants! (again thanks to lazy good for nothing maid). Thank goodness he managed to find one pair, although not really the desired colour scheme but nevermind la…got a plane to catch!

Now at the clinic waiting for doctor, looking active as ever…eh…still having slight fever wor…

Another eventful Saturday

September 25, 2006 · 7 Comments

Ok ok..a bit delayed this post cos the whole morning gila-red, had to send son to school, then send car to service and then go for an x-ray for my neck problemo..Ok back to our excursion last Saturday.
It started with a trip to Planetarium together with Flowsnow and family. Wah no joke, this place has got stairs, stairs and more stairs..so forget about the stroller…waste time had to carry both baby and stroller! We already cut the stair climbing by a lot by having hubby drop us near the entrance, but still we had to climb more stairs!

Overall, the place was pretty small, we had a bit of fun in the dark room and the gravity room, a human body movement as control for a video game, there was a viewing deck where we can see the whole of KL, there was a spaceball thingy to play but that one have to pay extra. They didn’t have shows that day so the entrance fee was only RM1.00 per adult and children F.O.C.! Parking also F.O.C.! Not bad la! Since we were going for good food for dinner, I packed sandwiches for lunch…cincai la..

The view of Sentral from the viewing deck and Kieran running around..

Wanted to go to the park in Lake Gardens but it started to rain…next time la…anyway got to go back and rest for night activity!

As mentioned by Oscar’s mom, we went to Queenspark at Jalan Peel, opposite the blooming French hypermarket. Wow, I was pretty impressed with that place, considering it was in Cheras area! Don’t play play, Cheras memang very happening now. Hubby (LaundryAhPah) kept asking where we were going but I didn’t bother to tell him cos I know for sure he has no idea where that place was. Thanks to Oscar’s mom we found that place.

Fuyoh, that restaurant was packed with people and we actually got confused and didn’t realise that there were two different restaurants side by side. Thank goodness we went to the correct one. Since it was our first time, we didn’t know their serving size so was kinda dispointed when we saw the dishes, so otoke? Tambah order la! Man, it was so busy that LaundryAhPah had to do some self service, like bringing our own tea, char kueh etc…They sold out by the time it was only 8 pm wor! Terrrer or not??

I noticed the restaurant installed their water meter up so high near the ceiling..wondering how the water meter guy going to read the meter leh…but can’t blame them la cos a lot besi/steel theifs around!

Consumer rights??

September 22, 2006 · 14 Comments

Ok today after reading an email from a friend, I thought it’s high time I tell everyone about this certain French hypermarket, and most of the time, the bad things happened at the one located at Mid Valley.

My experience:

  1. They advertised on National Newspaper about a certain product at a rate which was mindblowing low, so I asked Oscar’s mom to get it for me since she was there but when the product was scanned, it was not the advertised price! She noticed another customer disputing with the cashier about it. What was the result, I don’t know but I suspect the cashier will say I don’t know.
  2. They have the yellow best deal price hanging above a certain product and when the product is scanned at the check out counter, it’s again a higher price. When we question them, they said it was price for the day before! Liddat oso can!

I remember in Australia, if such price disputes occur at the check out counter, the product will be given free to the customer!

My friend’s recent experience:

  • She was getting some dried apricots and halfway picking them, she saw a dead cockroach! She told the staff about it and walked off fast fast…yucks. But she did look back to see what the staff did. He just picked up the cockroach and put back the apricots which my friend picked. I know we can’t expect much cleanliness in food handling outside but can’t they put up a show in front of the customer by pretending to take the whole tub inside????

Ok not related to the above hypermarket incident but also about food outside.

Oscar’s mom just told me that her grandfather once witnessed a rat slipped and fell inside a pot of barley which the restaurant was making. The person just picked up the rat and continued to sell the barley drink!!!

So, folks..dare to eat out or not?? Aiya, we can’t be too careful also, but as long as I don’t know and don’t see what they do to the food and say my prayers before I eat…heck la!

How do you know if that person is having a hard time?

September 20, 2006 · 10 Comments

Eventhough the person may not show a sulky or sad face but somehow you can detect that the person is having a hard time or unhappy about something. I am also writing this on behalf of Oscar’s mum as she’s busy helping her hubby folding the boxes..really kesian lor…

Well today both myself and Oscar’s mum had an encounter with 2 different persons that are like that lor. Ok I’ll talk about the one I met 1st. I was at my customer’s (J) laundry when his customer (L) walked in. First she asked for her basket which she actually forgotten that she has taken back. Then she asked this really stupid question.

L - Di sini ada ajar orang gosok kain tak? (Do you teach people to iron clothes or not?)

Hello! This is a laundry la…Teach you how to iron clothes then how to earn your $$ leh?

J - Ah, di sini kita ada menjalankan kursus tunjuk ajar untuk membuka bisnes dan operasi dobi.
(we do have a course in helping people set up a laundry business)

L - Oh, berapa yuran nya? (How much is the course?)

J - RM2,500.00 dan untuk praktikal lain pulak. (Cost is RM2,500.00 but for practical lessons there is a separate charge)

Can see L’s face change colour leow

L - Oh, begini..aiya saya saja nak tanya la, ajar gosok saja tak ada ya?
(Oh I’m just asking only la, like a course for ironing don’t have ya?)

She’s still not giving up…*roll eyes*

J - Tak ada (NO)

Then she asked J’s son to go to her car to fetch her laundry and then left.

J - Some people are so sarcastic, we just have to tell them off. How can she ask such a question.

J’s wife - You know ah this lady, damn fussy u know. Each time she brings clothes for ironing, we have to do the job 3 times! She keeps saying it’s not good enough!

Me - Huh? Iron 3 times? Ayo rugi la! Gila ke? (lose money la, crazy or wat?)

J’s wife - Ya lar, padan muka dia itu sebab suaminya ambil isteri baru! (Serves her right that’s y her husband took in a 2nd wife)

Me - Huh? How you know ah?

J’s wife - She told me herself! She said the husband complains about her ironing and asked why can’t she be as good as the 2nd wife.

Me - That’s why la, she give you a hard time..if not cannot compete with 2nd wife!

J - For all you know the 2nd wife also sends to dobi to iron the clothes la..

All of us - wuahahahahhahaha…

For Oscar’s mom, it’s the encounter with Mr XX D. He really gave her a hard time today. Weyo, taking advantage that I am not around to help defend her and also for the scolding I gave him yesterday. Ok, not going to elaborate in too detail, in short, Mr XX D constantly screws up in his work and never take responsibility for it summore. He is unable to take any pressure and most of the time he lets it out on the staff. He makes all sorts of unrealistic promises to people which he can’t fulfill and then expect other people to pick up the pieces. Get it by now? The best part is, he dwells on the issue and is unable to provide a solution and then pressure somebody else to solve it! Eh hello! How can? Errr..who’s the boss now ah? At the end, he has the cheek to ask, “So how?” Wah! If I’m around of course he will not be able to reach this stage leow. I would have told him shut the %^&* up and go solve his own problems and stop pushing the blame to others.

Really, I am soooooooo tired of having to go through this again and again. He will never stop being like this as this is just him, you can’t change character. I am so fed up but I can’t remove this stigma cos I’m related to him! That’s why I am so grateful and thankful to have Oscar’s mom to help share this burden, as not many people can be able to take his nonsense. Oscar’s mom, kumoupta!

So how do you know if that person is having a hard time? He/she gives a hard time to others!

I got to stop buying shoes…

September 19, 2006 · 12 Comments

Geezz today a pair of shoes died on me o-gain! Ok, remember my mountain of shoes, yah like I can wear them all la…but I still buy lor. Today I wore a pair which I didn’t wear like…emm…I forgot how long la…(yes that long) well, it didn’t last past lunch time! Actually, I just wore it up and down the stairs like err..3 times?? The strap like gave way lor..ayo this pair is like still so new leh. At least I can go up and get another pair, no sweat.

But I was not so lucky 2 days ago, I wore a pair which I also haven’t worn for like ages…well it also gave way while I was walking towards the restaurant carrying Kylie summore..same thing, the strap gave way..OTOKE?? Ah..thank God the strap like gave way right outside Metrojaya! So went in to buy a new pair la! If not how to walk leh, still got to go get my computer stuffs after lunch! Men Likes to be in Control

September 19, 2006 · 5 Comments

Following the post from NyonyaPenang I was reminded about this conversation I had with a friend (M) from church. This friend volunteers as a musician while my hubby (H) volunteers as a Sunday School Teacher. We were just talking about how difficult it is to recruit new volunteers for both musicians and teachers.

Me - Look at the sunday school teachers la, year in year out same people but the number of children increasing all the time

H - Eh hem..

Me - H has to be teaching every alternate week due to the shortage

M - Same here

Me - Ya I noticed that too..pity you guys man

M - But then, did you notice that there is an over flowing of volunteers for traffic control?

Me - Huh? Oh ya hor..Ya man, this job is more difficult leh, have to come early and stand in the hot sun summore..

M - Ah…do you know why there are so many volunteers, and they are only men summore?

Me - Why ah??

M - That’s because men generally likes to be in control, and this is one of the jobs that allow them to be in full control

Me - ? ? (very interested sitted on the edge of the seat)

M - Maybe they didn’t have chance to command control in either their work place or at home, but here as traffic controller can control wor..(pheeettttttttttttt…pheeeeeeeeeettttttttttt -blowing whistle action with sound effect and waving his hands like a traffic police + a very stern look)

Me & H - wuahahahahahahaha….ya man! So true!!

pssst..M is also a guy leh..

So, this is some sort of a way for release for the guy, so as for the guy mentioned in NyonyaPenang’s post, it’s the same situation la!

A Continuation to my eventful Saturday

September 18, 2006 · 13 Comments

After we came back from the National Science Centre, I went to my usual salon to have my hair done. The moment I walked in all of them looked at me like one kind..err..did I look that bad after my whole day activities?? No la…it’s just, there was a robbery there at about noon! OMG!! It’s like this place is like so uninteresting, doesn’t look like you can get much out of it in a robbery and that idiot of a robber went in!

The robber went in pretending to be an inquiring customer at first. The owner of the salon (Aunty Y) thought he looked kind of suspicious and told him to come back another time as the salon is very busy then. Then the co-stylist (Aunty N) noticed something amiss as the robber began to reach down to his left foot (was reaching for his knife). Aunty N was standing nearest to the back door and she immediately scooted off and ran for her life! There were about 4 - 5 customers at that time. Aunty N was attending to a hair colouring session with one customer. The moment Aunty N ran off the robber shouted and told her not to run but she ran la..The robber immediately pointed the knife at one customer’s neck(sitting at the waiting chairs nearest to the exit door, therefore nearest to the robber). By this time, everyone in the salon were in a state of shock. The victim was very calm though and gave him her handbag and when he wanted to pull her necklace, she told him not to as she will take it out for him. The moment he got the necklace, he ran out to his accomplice waiting in a motorcycle.

The victim ran out to catch a glimpse and saw the motorcycle plates. She shouted out the number but Aunty Y was still in shock and was not able to think hence unable to jot the plate details. Fortunately someone outside noticed something was not right so he remembered the plate details.

We were all thinking what would happen if Aunty N didn’t run out the back door. She actually saved everyone cos if she didn’t run, the robber would have sapu-ded (robbed) everyone la! But then again, the fact that she ran may have angered the robber and he could have attacked the poor lady that was nearest to him! Anyway, all in all thank God no one was hurt. My cousin who operates her desert factory next to this salon used to sit at where the lady was sitting, in fact she was there just moments before that lady came in. So she could’ve been the victim!

The victim went to report the incident and came back again to have her done..(die die oso have to come back cos she has a dinner that nite ler..) Anyway, Aunty N came back after the robber left and continued with her colouring session. In her state of shock, she actually mixed the wrong colour and the customer had to leave the salon with two different shades on her hair! The customer also was in a state of shock and didn’t mind at all!

The fact that this was the first that happened to this quiet little suburban neighbourhood salon in almost 30 years! Ayo..it’s not safe anywhere la..not even in front of your own house! So be careful, look around before you get down from your car, even when you reach home, look around before you open your gate..scary ler…Do not wear excessive jewellery, they were speculating that the victim actually attracted the robbers as she was wearing quite a bit of jewellery.
