Just another day….

October 31, 2006 · 9 Comments

I used to brag about Kieran being able to sit in his car seat since he was a baby. But now I can’t say the same for Kylie. She’s so fussy and she can’t sit still, emm..maybe for first 10 minutes of the ride with all of us in the car trying our very best entertaining her. When we run out of ideas, this happens….

I have tried scolding, giving her toys etc and now I keep a cane in the car but she just wails and wails and wails….pening la..summore stress being on the road itself having to meet bozo drivers all the time.
Whiningitis Major

We are now talking about Kieran, he’s at 4th stage Whiningitis, in fact it’s like incurable..scary or not? He whines most of the time especially about food. I am almost at wits end when it comes to feeding times. I try to starve him but he curi curi makan (eats behind my back) junk food before meal times. But the only time he eats well is when I cook spaghetti or eat out at his favourite restaurant! Actually, he just hates Chinese cooking and especially rice. So, that explains the skin and bones and how he can squeeze in the green rocking thingy! Following is a photo of him whining about something with LaundryApah. He was actually pulling daddy’s legs and didn’t allow him to walk off!

Playdough Recipe
Thot of sharing the playdough recipe since Zara Mama asked for it…
1 cup flour
1/2 cup salt
2 teaspoon cream of tartar (cannot omit according to person who gave this recipe)
1 tablespoon cooking oil
3/4 - 1 cup water (drop 1 - 2 drops food colouring inside)
  1. Mix dry ingredients in sausepan/pot
  2. Add water and oil into the dry ingredients
  3. Cook on stove on medium heat and stir constantly (like less than a minute it kinda forms ledi)
  4. When it feels stiff like mashed potato, take it out and knead for about 2 minutes
  5. Store in container when finished playing.
Note: If the dough kinda sticks to hands or table, just add plain flour.

Fruitful Holiday Part 2

October 27, 2006 · 15 Comments

Part of the activities during the Raya Holidays
Painting
Thanks to ideas from Jazzmint & Zara’s Mama, I made some paint using food colouring mixed in slightly heated cornflour solution (to thicken the solution and make it look like the normal water colour paint). Wah those food colouring dun play play ah..sticks to the skin and takes at least a few washes before coming off one…especially green colour. So be wary of greenish looking foodstuff! Since it stayed on my fingers, I thought better not risk the clothes la (even tho I have like terrer detergent to remove). Kylie didn’t really have fun as she was suffering from constipation, and was really not her normal active & inquisitive self. Finally she dropped the bomb later that night and she was back to normal!
Play Doh
On another day, I made some playdough thanks to some online recipes. I actually surfed for a few to choose from. Very easy to do, I chose the cooked ones, but the smell was like so weird lor. But after it’s ready it’s ok. I made 3 colours first, knowing very well it will not last long cos I know my son has tendency to combine all the colours into one lor! Sure enough, he did it again the next day and the whole room was full of the pieces! Check out the “curry puff” I made! I don’t know why each time I play with any type of dough, I sure shape it into a curry puff lor!
New Toy (New “Toilet”
Since Kylie was having so much fun with this rocking thingy (don’t know what to call it la) at church so I decided to get one for the house. She only wanted to ride it only when kor kor goes for it. Then Kor kor went into hiding. Can you spot him in the photo?
He hid inside the rocking thingy at one time and we didn’t know. Then he suddenly came out once the maid walked past and that gave her a scare! Can you imagine how skinny he is!

1. Are you happy/satisfied with your blog, with its content and look? Does your family know about your blog?

Sort of la, not entirely cos I’m trying to learn more tricks, especially after seeing other blogs.

Yes my family as in hubby and in laws also know about my blog. Hubby will read and then complain occasionally about my transparency.

2. Do you feel embarrassed to let your friends know about your blog or you just consider it as a private thing?

I am very proud and will gladly let my friends know about my blog!

3. Did blogs cause positive changes in your thoughts?

Yes in a lot of ways.

4. Do you only open the blogs of those who comment on your blog or you love to go and discover more by yourself?

Those who comment on my blog are already on my blogroll and blogrolling helps inform me of their updates. I do visit other sites for fun and I have come across people I know before.

5.What does visitors counter mean to you? Do you care about putting it in your blog?

For fun la, actually the counter is not accurate one, when I go to my site to check it’s being counted also…hahaha..

Some already got to after a while so no need to imagine, but there are some I like to imagine la..for fun wat!

Of course la, if no benefit blog for what? It’s therepeutic and fun especially when we discover new things we can do to make the blog more interesting.

Of course not la. We have real and happening lives one, if not where got topic to blog ah?

Criticism is part of life, it’s a matter of how you want to take it. Sadly we Asians do not take criticisms very well.

Fear? No lar, just read and be entertained la.

13. What do you like to hear? What’s the song you might like to put a link to in your blog?

Currently I have Leslie’s song thanks to Aceone but I’m just too lazy to update and change at the moment. Would like to put in my Korean drama songs…hehehe…Korean drama queen ma..

Fruitful Holiday

October 24, 2006 · 10 Comments

Yay! I finally completed yet another Korean Drama Series, yes I’m kinda behind, it’s an old one titled Winter Sonata, starring the “lar pek” (girlish, ok I hope not many fans of him come after me!) Bae Yong Jun aka Aunty “Sat Sau” (majority fans are aunties!) and the famous Choi Ji Woo. Frankly I don’t know how this actress is like one of the top Korean actress cos I really cannot tahan (stand) her lor cos her roles are mainly sobby and has a cham (pathetic) face. Found this drama kinda draggy but the soundtrack of songs really chun (good) leh! In fact I’m learning to play a few of the songs from the soundtrack on the piano…wish me all the best!!

Other than that, I still managed to cook chicken rice for lunch, and pack it for LaundryApah who went to the new house to assemble all the Ikea stuff I bought over 3 - 4 Ikea sales..I think!

Apah-Eh what is dat ah? (pointing to one of the Ikea furniture)

Amah-Huh? Dat one? ya hor..wat is dat ah? I oso dunno wor.. (sei/die lor, bought it so many moons ago I can’t remember I even bought it and I have no freaking idea what it is for summore!)

Then we tried to get Kylie to sleep but she’s just too excited in a new environment (yeah we hardly go back) and she kept running up and down on the platform in the masterbedroom. I guess she was fascinated with the sound of her footsteps. Then I went to check on Apah and horrors of horrors he was assembling the Ikea chair! I screamed!!!!!!

Amah-Why you assemble this? Ayo!! Look! Your handprints all over the white cloth!!!!!!

Apah-You ask me to assemble all the furniture ma…how I know? (apah’s favourite statement..how I know?) And my hands are dirty from the work I’ve been doing ma!

Amah-Ayo..you assemble the others ma, the ones that are not vulnerable to dirt, look what you’ve done? Now the thing dirty and you still continue! So bodoh one!

Apah-Eh..this work is not easy la, look at my fingers, all sore! This is hardwork ok!

Amah-Hardwork and you do this! I dun care, take it out! Now got to wash it!

Apah-No need la, later will cover with the outer cushion cannot see one..

Amah-Eh since most parts of your body will be covered by your clothes, don’t wash them la!

Apah-Ok Ok Ok……(grumbling, complaining….)

Amah-???????? Chi sin!

Kieran was as usual trying to be helpful but turned out bothering daddy and daddy occasionally cried out, “Why you bring the kids??? Haiyerrrrrrrrrr…..” So we didn’t stay too long before daddy threw another fit…On the way out, Kieran was whining about something so I decided to stopover McDs drive-in to get him an ice cream. Wah his tears dried up instantly! When I wound down the window and started ordering, I realised I only had like RM4 in my wallet! HOrrers! Quickly apologised to the guy (so embarassing!) and zoomed out to ATM to tit tit tit…o-gain! Thank goodness the Atm was like a few doors away from that place!

Fair not Not??

October 23, 2006 · 8 Comments

I was having this conversation with Oscar’s mom just now. It’s about our industry. I don’t know why people always regard launderers as the lowest of lowest, like “dei dai lai” (dirt on the ground). Why can’t people realise that a launderer is a PROFESSIONAL also! We also go thru extensive training and machines and chemicals we use (or rather I distribute) are imported from Europe and USA, and go thru extensive research and development are of state of the art technology also u know! Why am I saying this all of a sudden? Well let me give you a scenario.

We have fixed basic prices on cleaning charges irregardless of the cost of the garment. For example, a customer brings in a G2000 suit (cost about RM400-RM500) and another brings in a HUGO BOSS (RM1500-RM2000) suit and both are charged RM12.00 - RM15.00 per suit. Is that fair or not? For the RM12-15 the launderer is at risk washing the garment and most probably the Hugo owner would have given this statement, “Eh this is very expensive ah..be careful so you don’t spoil ah!” Well, for that statement itself wouldn’t it be fair that the launderer charge more for cleaning that so-called expensive garment since extra care has to be taken into consideration? But if the launderer charges more, what would the reaction of the Hugo owner be?

Hugo-Oh ok, charge la..but you do a good job ah… (you think got this kind of people still alive on this earth ah?)

OR

Hugo-What? Like dat oso want to charge more ah, how can? In fact hor, your normal charge already expensive wor, last time hor, I wash ah RM8 only wor!

eh..what happened to the composed nature about how expensive his suit is ah? And then hor, considering that it’s an expensive suit, if anything is wrong with it, I’m sure Hugo owner will demand for compensation. Like for the miserable RM12-15 charge to wash the garment, how do you expect the launderer to compensate a RM1500 suit leh???

In fact most launderers have a clause printed on the back of their docket stating that compensation is only 10 times the cost of the wash. But usually will the consumer settle the case for RM120 for a damaged HUGO suit??

Hubby Away Again

October 19, 2006 · 9 Comments

LaundryApah has been away a lot lately. So melecehkan lor (inconvenient)..cos he’s the one who usually put the kids to sleep and slaves around for me also! Muahahaha.. He was away on Sunday till Tuesday and he left again early this morning. He left so early that I didn’t even know he left! Really sleepy Amah! Thanks to my midnight blogging!

Tomorrow will be a mega long day for me as I have to do a delivery which LaundryApah usually helps me out with. Then I have to go to the Pan Global office to give them a piece of my mind since I couldn’t get through to their so-called Customer Service on the phone! I actually tried to go today but the traffic was so bad I had to turn back! Food Served at Salon

October 18, 2006 · 14 Comments

I guess it’s common that tea or some kind of beverage is served at hair salons but the one I go to serves food leh! Each time I go there’s bound to have yummy food and also different summore! Tzeng leh…(excellent or not..) Why do I get such priviledge? No lar I’m not that important a customer la, eh come on, the cost of having my hair done at RM15.00 cannot have food served also la..where got such good deals leh?

Well, what they say, it’s who you know lor..I think I mentioned before, my cousin operates her nyonya kuih factory next door to this salon and they are very close buddies (or rather majong and eating buddies) and my cousin does most of her cooking at the salon’s premises simply because her factory is classified “Halal” meaning only muslim food, so no chinese cooking la! So whenever I’m there, there’s usually food if my cousin is around. Even if she’s not around, some other customer would have cooked something and shared with the salon. So, I’ve been pretty blessed cos each time I go there’s bound to be something yummie! hehehe…

Today’s menu was the “Hokkien style pan mee soup” and it was really yummie yummie no joke leh! Sorry didn’t take picture cos I got too excited and dug in and “chiak ka liow” (finished eating) immediately after it was brought out for me! Can you imagine this luxury of having your hair done and food served????? No leh…. I got lor! Jealous or not?? Muahahahaha…

Unique experience

October 17, 2006 · 13 Comments

Monday 16 Oct 2006

I don’t know how this happened but yesterday Kieran was his usual menacing self the whole day until dinner time. He was just motionless and couldn’t respond to us and didn’t attempt to eat anything. He was just sitting there looking miserable. I noticed a thick discharge from his left eye. Darn, it was 8 p.m. already and the paed is kinda far away. But he really doesn’t look good and he was supposed to go for an excursion today which he has been so excited about for the past one week. So, I quickly sent him to the paed and yes as I have guessed, the queue was really long. We had about 8 patients ahead of us.

Then I saw another friend walked in with her daughter who is down with fever. After she registered she told me she will be going to the mall opposite. I was like huh? Isn’t the daughter like kinda unfit to go to the mall?? But she said the wait should take over an hour so she would rather go to the mall with the kids! Boy she was right as by the time we walked in to see the paed, it was past an hour and a half! Shiaks! Paed was kinda worried about Kieran as he was not his usual self and he was wheezing. He had to get the nebulizer treatment this time round! Thank God after the nebulizer he was much better. After that I started to panic also cos I had only RM80.00 in my purse and I’m sure the bill was going to be above that with all the extra medication the paed was giving! And again my guess was right and the bill came up to RM160.00! Thank God for our very reliable local bank which has a branch nearby. Tit tit tit..pronto!

I was spending the night at my mom’s as LaundryApah was outstation (always the case when either one of the kids is sick!) so I had to rush back to get the thermoscan and other stuff like his aero chamber puff thingy to inhale the ventolin to help stop his wheezing. It was close to 11 p.m. by then which got mom worried for a while. Managed to settle him in bed by 11.30p.m. but Kylie was wide awake! Shiaks! Ayo..amah koyak ledi! (dead tired already).

School Excursion - Tuesday 17 Oct 2006

Today Kieran’s kindy arranged for the K2 classes to go to a primary school to help them familiarise with the environment and practise using money to buy from the school canteen. I went along as I was worried for him and wanted to make sure he had enough water as most of the time he brings back his water tumbler back with the water he brought to school!

I had to drop mom at the market for a while so I joined the kids later. I didn’t know where to park and I happened to park just next to a hydrant. Then I realised it was the wrong gate so I got back to the car to relocate and forgot about the hydrant. Yes I rammed right into it! Shockers! I was like so afraid the water will like shoot out like a fountain but it didn’t cos the hydrant I knocked down was the concrete type so it was like a concrete block that rests on the manhole! Wah phew! But hor the bottom part of my car was like scratched lor..boo hoo hoo…

Anyway, the kids went on a tour of the school led by some prefects. I could see poor Kieran sweating away and looked kinda tired. The excitement was really at the canteen when he took out his money getting ready to splurge. Of course protective mommy was lurking around and made sure he got only mineral water and fish ball nuggets instead of the junk food his classmates got! There were this colourful ice popsicles in a transparent tube that a few of his friends bought and I started to scare them that they actually used the water colour that they use for their art to make the colour and told them that they were bad for them..some of the kids kinda looked panic a bit lor..muahahahaha,,,bad hor this amah!

While I was sitting in the canteen I saw some kids playing “5 stones”! That was like my favourite game when I was in primary school! Gosh, I was like so shocked that they were still playing it now even with all the advanced computer games bla bla bla that they have now.
It was kinda fun being around the kids and they were like so fascinated that I’m around. There were some kids from the primary school who came up to me to say hello and said they were from the same kindy last time! Was surprised how friendly and courteous the kids were.

Starting Young

October 16, 2006 · 18 Comments

I have this crazy habit of buying loads of fashion magazines…well, Amah mommy ledi but still wanna keep up with latest fashion ma…LaundryApah nags at me all the time for buying so many and I refuse to throw any of them! Yes I have magazines that date back to 1990! What do I do to lessen the pages?? I usually tear out the adverts and send to the recycling bin! Crazy or not??

Well, my magazines are like all over the place, and that day Kylie got hold of one and I managed to catch a shot of her. She’s looks as if she can understand what’s she looking at! Probably just imitating mommy la…

Well since a lot of mommies do this I must as well la…Progress report of Kylie:

Weight - 9.8kg as per last visit to doctor, I think should be 10 kg by now!

Teeth - 6 on the top and 6 at the bottom

Emotions

  • Very aggressive girl, when she wants something she will scream for it and when she doesn’t want it she will shove it away or throw it on the floor!
  • She will scream so loud whenever Kieran tries to take anything from her or even just touch her! (Cannot put them side by side in the car!)
  • She loves to go out and whenever she sees either me or daddy about to go she will run to the door hoping that she can come along, if we don’t bring her she wails!
  • Makes sound like “ooo oo oo ooo” and widens her eyes whenever she sees any animals, especially with our dog, Duke. (She’s the only kid in our family who’s not afraid of him now..)
  • Generally very happy and expressive kiddo

Language

She has very limited vocabulary (Lack of exposure to tv according to Oscar’s Mom)

  • Uh oh yatoh (jatuh) - when something falls
  • There
  • Mumm mumm - food
  • Nen Nen - Milk
  • Wey/taddi- when calling for anyone (but for the taddi part, LaundryApah insists she’s calling daddy!)
  • ta ta - Kakak (mommy so sad cos she can call kakak and not mommy yet!) : (

Tricks

  • Able to point or indicate to when we say the words
  • Fan/light - points to the ceiling
  • Nose-points to her nose
  • Teeth - She grits her teeth and goes “eeeeeeeeeeeee”
  • Tongue-sticks her tongue out
  • Bye-bye-she waves her hand
  • Fly kiss-she covers her mouth and lets go with a “Mmmmm Muak!”

Likes

  • Eat non stop
  • Climbs up and down
  • Hangs on to her piggy bolster and suck her thumb
  • Screaming when excited/being bullied by kor kor/just for fun!
  • Not really interested with her own toys but gets really excited playing with other people’s toys!
