Weekend

October 24, 2007 · 34 Comments

Saturday started with roti tissue at Saji..(are u so jeles of me LB? huh?) and then stayed at home the whole day on to bake, no lar…just the first half of the day I baked and the 2nd half chilling..and then gardening..what a wonderful day..doing 2 things I like besides shopping…(now no more sales so mai stay at home lor..)

So the thin & crispy lor this roti tissue….

I tried 2 new recipes, firstly I baked shortbread cookies and then I baked a Chocolate Yoghurt cake. Turned out quite ok, except the part where Kylie destroyed helped to bake the cookies. The cookies were not really consistent in shape and size as I was trying out my cookie cutters. Not all the cookie cutters were suitable. The cookie was too soft and broke easily so I didn’t get too many with perfect shapes to give away.. :( Maybe I should make them thicker so that it’s easier to maintain its shape… I really liked the Pooh character shapes…so the cute lor!

My destroyer helper

The cake was rising nicely but then it sunk down but not like sunk until down down sunk la…just flattened only lor. I was too lazy to make the topping..eating on its own without the topping was kinda acceptable also…to me la..

Then in the evening I went to pick up my cousins from the airport. They came from Sydney to attend my brother’s wedding! Yes they helped bring back the sheepskin I purposely forgot and somemore peanut butter and Nuttelex Margarine for me!! Yippppeeeee…..

Then Sunday came and we had a birthday to attend but being Amah, as usual “pai woo loong” (got the time wrong) and thought it was 3.30pm but in actual fact it was 2.00 pm. So after church I thought we had some time to kill before the party so we went to Ikea to spend a return voucher I got but ended up buying more, like a lot more than the return voucher of course!

As I was walking up to the party, the birthday girl’s grandfather was walking down and said this, “Yau mo gau chor ah? Yi kar jeng lei..” (What happened, now only came?) I was like huh? Then the birthday girl’s dad was like about to go pay the bill somemore..I was like eh? Not 3.30 meh? Birthday girl’s mummy was like laughing at me..ok lor me saw the message wrongly..sorry lor!! Poor Kieran was soooo disappointed and scolded me non stop for not getting the time right! hahahaha…Sorry lor…

Tarzan

October 22, 2007 · 28 Comments

Was inspired by this mommy to write about what Kieran did one day after watching the movie Tarzan…that’s why I said the tv has very strong influence on kids (or is it just my kid) and we should be really careful with what they are watching as they will try to immitate the characters or whatever the characters do…

This happened sometime back in July but just didn’t have a chance to put this up until I read about how the mommy I mentioned above said about her tarzan boy!

So this was what Kieran did..

He actually pounced around and jumped onto the furniture trying to immitate Tarzan’s movements. Too bad I didn’t take a video of it as it was like a surprised act he did, u know all of a sudden he took off his clothes and then pounced around! Notice his fingers and toes? They are curled up like what the Tarzan too! See how observant kids can be! *slap forehead* Yeah some of you may notice his ribcage too…skin and bones….what to do…such a picky eater!

Long Weekend

October 18, 2007 · 16 Comments

What to do over the long weekend? Drive out of town is out of the question as I didn’t want to join in and contribute to the already so jam-ded roads..I thought of baking and using up all my almost close to expiry date flour and sugar etc…but was too lazy busy doing nothing! Then I thought of what my friend was going to do, checking in a local resort just to chill out for one night! Where else is close to home, quiet and peaceful and a great place to relax? We packed our bags to join my friend at the Putrajaya Shangrila. I didn’t double check what type of package they gave to us and just took the room!

The room was very nice, forgot to take photos of the bathroom. It was close to the pool and has a very good view of the Putrajaya township. The room came with breakfast for 2, Kieran was over the free meal age but they were being nice and forgot didn’t charge for his meal. The room came with free broadband access which was excellent for me! Later I found out that my room rate was slightly more expensive than my friend’s package and on top of that, she got the free tickets for the boat ride free and I didn’t! So she gave them to me and we brought the kids out on the sampan boat. This boat ride is not cheap ok, RM20.00 per adult (we didn’t have to pay la..since we got the tickets) and kids we had to pay RM12.00 and the 2nd kid at RM2.00. There was another bigger boat which is more expensive charging at RM30.00 for adults and RM15 for kids. Quite expensive lor…if not for the complimentary tickets I wouldn’t have gone for it!

The kids enjoyed and I was busy taking photos of the buildings around the lake as you can see in the slide above.  There were many more big big houses along the lake shore which I didn’t get good pictures of. Like so resort feel lor..

Anyway, our package allowed late check-out at 6 pm but we didn’t hang around too late since it was going to rain, so we left about 4.30p.m. The kids were so reluctant to leave and kept saying they wanted to swim again! They went swimming the moment we checked in, and the next day they swam first thing in the morning, then after breakfast, then after they came back from the boat ride! Kylie got a tan and is darker now but Kieran remained pale as ever!! Gosh…so unhealthy!

Definitely will go there again…I reckon is more healthy then going shopping, as I think I will spend more on shopping than this! Correct or not???

Discovering Pavilion and The Eye of Malaysia-backdated..

October 17, 2007 · 15 Comments

We have a new shopping sensation in town and of course being Amah, must check it out la…and off we went one fine Saturday, of course have to be after Kieran’s music class. It was during the fasting month so we have to choose the route properly to avoid the madness on the road. As we were on the road I reminded Apah that we will be heading to the Eye after dinner and of course Apah was like surprised…

Apah-huh? The Eye?

Me-Yeah I already told you that yesterday ma, go to Pavilion then dinner then the Eye…

Apah-oh I didn’t hear that (he says this ALL the time, I stress ALL as in 100%!!!)

Me-cursing cursing….never listen to people when people talking one…

Then suddenly Apah turned to this road and I was like….

Me-Eh where are u going?

Apah-ha? The Eye ma..

Me-WHAT?? I SAID GO TO THE PAVILLION FIRST THEN ONLY GO TO THE EYE MA…AYO GO TO THE EYE IN THE HOT AFTERNOON MEH??? SEOW AH? OF COURSE GO AT NIGHT LA….WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU AH? I WAS JUST TELLING YOU WHAT THE PLAN WAS LIKE SECONDS AGO LEH!!!!

Apah-errr..I didn’t hear that..I heard go to the Eye..(see what I mean?????)

I REST MY CASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The jam to the Pavillion was kinda bad but we managed to squeeze our way in and parked like in B3!! The place was still under construction works and was like kinda dusty lor…better not go till Christmas time! Didn’t manage to see the whole place but was pretty impressed with the new Tangs..and am so going to go back as I was not in the mood of buying after the episode in the car…

Then we proceeded to have dinner at Madam Kwans (the only familiar restaurant to us, there weren’t many to choose from anyway) and good thing we entered before the break of fast so the food came pretty quickly, only thing they forgot our desert and I chose to wait for it patiently just to take up their table space, I mean I could walk off without the dessert really but just to piss them, I decided to wait!! kakakakaka….

The Eye was quite impressive…and the queue was not that long, good timing also cos it was like breaking fast time ma…I can’t compare with the one with London as I didn’t get on the ride when I was there the last time…

The moment the ferris wheel began to move, Kieran suddenly said he was very scared and hung on to daddy and that gave me a shock and suddenly I was scared stiff too! I mean scared stiff as in, the heartbeat suddenly skipped a began beating faster than the lion dance drum beats and the legs suddenly went limp and jelly like…I too hung on to Apah for dear life..and it didn’t help with the kids switching seats from one to the other, suddenly…..

K- Hahahahhahaa…mummy is a scardy cat..hahaha..I’m not scared! hahahaha

M-What???!!

Can you beat that? He was so sneaky! He did that for fun! Good thing after one round, I lost that panicky feeling and was back to normal! Shiats! No thanks to Kieran!

Kid’s Imagination

October 16, 2007 · 12 Comments

I’m surprised how imaginative my kids can get when they are playing. I’ve bought them loads and loads of toys but they hardly play with them..They come up with all sorts of games…like this

They were pretending to eat like a dog!

or this..

They were performing an operation on the piggy bolster (Kylie’s comfort pillow), notice Kieran wearing a plastic on his right hand (his surgical gloves) and he was asking Kylie (nurse) to pass the surgical tools to him!

or this

Kieran picked up a piece of paper and started cutting into shapes and placed them in order to make a stingray fish!

My Lil Assistant

October 13, 2007 · 15 Comments

I have a lil assistant at home who’s very enthusiastic and always willing to lend a hand to destroy help with whatever we are doing around the house. She’s none other than my lil cili padi, Kylie.

She loves to pick up the spade and start digging into my pots and transferring the soil to the floor…or picking up the broom to sweep more rubbish into the compound..or mess up help out at the kitchen when I’m baking, like squashing making biscuit shapes..

She loves to help out Auntie Angie at the office too and provides some entertainment to her while she slogs work in the office. Her favourite past time is to give Auntie Angie a scare with her creepy worm game and also hiding in one corner or under a desk destroying playing with something soooo quietly…

I noticed that’s she has been using some new words lately, and she’s able to communicate in her limited 2 to 3 word sentences but most of the time demanding for something la…hahahaha I love you Kylie!!

Swim Trial and Mini Concert

October 10, 2007 · 27 Comments

I sent Kieran for a swim trial class. He loves swimming and I’ve been looking for a cheap affordable and suitable location where I can bring him. My niece has been attending this one which is close to Apoh’s place, and they offered a free trial class. Kieran was ecstatic and was soooo excited. The time given was 9.00 am on a Saturday morning and it was super early for me to travel from my place to Apoh’s place! So I decided to ask Kieran to spend the night at Apoh’s and ask Apoh to bring him there instead. I’m really blessed as mom can drive!!! Phew! As expected he loved the class and wanted to go again. However, I am reluctant as the fees are way more expensive (have to pay in advance of RM900 for RM35 per 1/2 - 3/4 hour lesson) than the ones I heard of but I didn’t bring him there due to the locations.

After the swim we went back to shower before going to his music class, yes it was back to back. I wanted breakfast and stopped over to buy my favourite roti planta & paper tosai (LB, this one is better la…the bestest dhal and assortment of curries) for breakfast and Kieran was really hungry after the swim and practically swallowed the whole roti and pinched mine too! So swimming is really a good activity to boost his appetite! Help! I need to find the suitable place for him soon!

Kieran was playing for a mini in-house concert in his music school, actually I forced asked the teacher to allow him to perform in order to encourage him to practice. He played Somewhere Out There and he loved that song. However, due to lack of practice, he didn’t play so well, with some mistakes towards the end. However, being the over excited parents, we were still happy and we brought the cameras & the video camera to capture the moment. However, I don’t know how to load the video as it’s saved as 2 separate files and I don’t know how to combine it and load on Youtube…

The music school organises this in-house mini concerts 3 times a year and this is final term one. I can see most of the kids play very well, some even younger than him and who has started the 2nd instrument. So I’m really wondering if I should continue to allow him to go for the lessons as he’s really not into it and the lessons are also very very costly! But then again, I feel it’s a waste as he has been with the school for 2 years..and that’s a quite a number of LV bags there! So how? Should I continue sending him there to waste my money his time or not??

Well this concerned mommy gave me a buzz to ask for my support to this campaign and of course I would oblige as I hate to see such senseless killings!

Please lend your hand in support to this worthy cause to support Free Burma today! We are encouraged to refrain from blogging today (didn’t say anything about Facebooking) — 4th October.

Show your support by writing a blogpost about it and link to www.free-burma.org. Get the banner or graphic from here or here, and be part of this action.

Here’s something about Free Burma!

We want to set a sign for freedom and show our sympathy for these people who are fighting their cruel regime without weapons. These Bloggers are planning to refrain from posting to their blogs on October 4 and just put up one Banner then, underlined with the words “Free Burma!”.

Cheers!
