Last weekend and another overdue tag

November 28, 2007 · 26 Comments

Been busy hence the lack of updates…It’s the Christmas season and I so so love Christmas and I bought a new tree and all new Christmas decos!

This is the christmas tree which I have to put it outside the house due to lack of space inside…I haven’t completed hanging all the deco as of this pic…

Take note of the garland twisted around the pillars…yes I’m that crazy and into Christmas deco! I actually had the garlands twisted around all 4 pillars and also the book shelf inside the house…

I made cupcakes and tried out the white ready-to-roll icing I bought and also tried out using Kat’s butter cake recipe. Love this recipe!! Thanks Kat for sharing!

Yes my lil samseng princess climbed on the table and pinched the cake to eat…evidence, all over her mouth!

Daddy’s been practicing his balloon making (of which I’ve nagged him to do like 4 years ago!) and he has gone all out that day and came up with so many types!

and finally my overdue tag…

A tag from Lovelymummy many many moons ago…sorry ah..

PoWderful packed Weekend..

November 20, 2007 · 20 Comments

We started the weekend with cutting Kylie’s hair off! I know I know..what a waste (since it took us 2 years to leave her hair long…) but it was getting messy and she refused to have her hair clipped or tied…even if we managed to tie her hair up, she will pull it down in no time! So it was getting into her face, her mouth…ewwww tooo messy…I feel sad but what to do? She already looks so much like a boy, with her short hair…it’s like worse… :( We had a tough time convincing her to sit on the chair so finally the hairdresser gave her something to eat and she relaxed! What a greedy lil girl!

We bought the fish filter and the bandaraya fish (to eat the moss n rubbish in the pond) and we arrived home, I saw one fish already motionless! Oh dear…it can’t survive for even a week at least! Let’s see how long the other one can live….actually I’m beginning to like the idea of the fish…I kinda like to watch it swim around in the mornings..

Then came Saturday morning…it was Kieran’s music school final term mini concert again. This time Kieran was singing..(too lauya to be chosen to play…). He sings quite well as I could hear his voice the loudest among the group!

After the concert, we went to Ikano for lunch (excuse but the truth was to Ikea to shop…again!). Went to buy last minute presents and also Christmas deco…yeah we have started our Christmas deco..but I have yet to buy the tree as the one we have is too small..When I told Angie about this..

A - Too small? Eh from the last time I was there,,,errrr…there’s like not much space left wor..

So the sad lor…kakakakaaka

Amah-No lar…I’m going to put the tree outside the house…

A-oooo

The kids were acting up while we in Ikea and I ended up having to buy them each a soft toy to shut them up calm them down..now Kylie’s been hanging on to this crab, hopefully it will slowly take the place of the the pink piggy bolster.

After the shopping we rushed back cos Apah wanna go out again. So I took the kids to the lake side near our house. It was beautiful….and we saw tortoises and fish in the lake eventho the water was like kinda teh-ish/kopi-ish. The kids were so excited to see the tortoises and kept screaming and running to the edge…Yikes! I kept telling them to come back and not stand too close! I really do not want to jump in the water lor!!

Sunday came and we were off to church and a church friend from Kylie’s toddler’s class celebrated her twins’ birthday. After the song, they started cutting the cake. It looks yummieee..but then as she was cutting the cake, the aroma of the cake was like kinda funny…like ewwie and then became ewwie-ier n..eeee..the smell so familiar one? It was a durian cheesecake! EWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW….I hate durians..so the aroma (so called fragrance of the durian) is like kinda PONG to me ok! Yikes! Fast fast disappear and turned on the air con higher to blow away the smell!!

After church we went for lunch and it was still early for the birthday party…so we went back to my office to rest..but the kids just played and played and didn’t rest at all. We still keep a lot of toys there since my house can’t fit them all! We arrived at the birthday like kinda late as we were also doing some laundry so had to hang them out before we leave la.. The room was kinda too small for the party so we had really close fellowship and the best part we had to sit on the kiddy chairs! Good thing they didn’t break on us!

Wow! I was so impressed with the mummy of the birthday boy! She made cupcakes with cookie alphabets that spelled out her son’s name! She also made the party packs herself, cookies and all!

Kylie didn’t really get to enjoy the party as she was very tired and needed her nap…so she eventually fell asleep..but suddenly she started coughing, I think she choked with her own saliva..and threw up all over the maid and the floor! EWWWWWWWWWW…since we came out early, she already used up her 2nd change of clothes and we had none for her to change! Thank goodness for Oscar and Barbara…Kylie had a tshirt and shorts to go home with! Muaks!! The maid was wearing 2 layers of clothes and good thing the uniform I gave her was like kinda thick and waterresistant..so she didn’t get her inner tshirt wet with puke! If not…the journey home would be torturous for us since it was a long way home!

Once in the car, our lil friend was back to normal and jumping around fighting with the brother over the McDonalds party packs! *roll eyes*

Last Weekend…

November 16, 2007 · 20 Comments

We had 2 birthdays over the weekend, and we have another birthday this coming weekend!

It was my father in law’s birthday on Saturday and we went to this porridge steamboat restaurant in Subang SS15. The food was not as good as the one in Cheras, the one we went with Annie & family. It was as usual difficult to handle Kylie as she was getting restless as we were cooking the food and she was as usual, playing with the cutleries, climbing out from the baby chair..then start to scream when we restrained her…(me so embarrassed of her and most of the time don’t even bother to look at her..)

As for the boy, he was chatting away with grandpa..

The cake that was baked by yours truly…quite yucky lor the appearance n there was some mistake in the process also…blekkk

Then on Sunday it was my cousin Liz’s son’s birthday. Again we had time to kill before the party and Apah made a mistake by suggesting One Utama…cos lunch was expensive (again) and of course Amah went to shop again! Lunch was great, Japanese and at a new place…

yummmmz…

but my time digging into the old stock at Zara was even more shiok! Despite the fact that they r really stingy with their discounts, even after so long after the sale, the stuff I bought were like only about slightly over 50% but not more than 60% off! And while I was still decided which to buy out of the pile I tried on..

that’s my cuzzie playing magician entertaining the kids!

then I noticed a few containers such as below…..errr what’s going on?

the kids at the party..

Kylie wearing some head band…that’s quite unusual as she usually doesn’t like anything on her head..

have u guessed what was the fish in the containers for? No it’s not for a game…it’s the party pack to take home!

look at the excitement..”I can’t wait to squish u lil fishy….”

I quickly set up the pond (which was bought initially as a deco item with no intention of rearing any fish!)

Since it’s supposed to be a deco item, we don’t have the filter…so that was temporary measure until I bought the filter last night!

Shocking!

November 14, 2007 · 39 Comments

I had 2 shocking things that happened today, once in the morning and once in the afternoon during lunch….

First one..

I was just lazing around the couch watching tv and Kieran was next to me..I suddenly realised he has his hand inside his pants…

Me-Take out your hand! What are you doing?

Kieran immediately took out his hand and smiled at me sheepishly…

Me-Do NOT play with your kkc (boy’s private part) ah! It’s so dirty! Afterwards the zhong zhong (worm) will grow there ah!

K-How can the worm grow there wor?

Me-(realised it was a stupid statement but I can’t take it back..) You play somemore la…see if the zhong zhong will grow or not? Your hands are so dirty each time u touch u pass some germs there! yerrrrrr

K-What’s wrong with that? I always play with my kkc….

Me-I said no ah! You better stop doing that!

*Slap forehead*

Second incident..

This happened during lunch, while we were slurpping away the extra smooth kuey teow (Rice noodles) at Soo Kee (this is Kieran’s favourite place as he eats a lot!) Kieran suddenly came to my side and whispered this into my ear…

K-Mom..u know ah..when I like a girl, my kkc will become BIG BIG one..

Me-(OMG!!) What?!?!? Who told you that??

Kieran again smiled sheepishly again, u know the ngek ngek ngek style one? the yum yum sup sup smile? If still don’t get it, can ask Unker Cocka cos he smiles liddat too!)

Me- TELL ME! WHO TOLD YOU THAT? WHO TAUGHT YOU THIS NONSENSE??? (really it’s facts of life but to a 7 year old kid…it’s like too early right????)

He continued eating and didn’t bother to answer me..will get Apah to handle this cos I’m really like at wits end..I have no idea how to handle this! BLECHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Food glorious food! (backdated)

November 11, 2007 · 22 Comments

Don’t get fat is fake la (direct translation from Cantonese) meaning all the food we’ve been consuming..blaming it on cousins from Australia..they are the reason that we are eating so much!

Since cousins were here, naturally other cousins will flock together and hence I get to stick along and enjoy the food…

The day they arrived, me and Mr D (remember the MLL who went to the Aussie trip with us..yeah that’s him) went to pick up cousins and first stop was Kayu at USJ. Cousins had roti canai and I had naan (took them like a million years to prepare but it was good so I forgave them). Mr D had to order mutton curry..(oh LB I finally tried the mutton curry at Saji and u r right..it was darn good!) but it was like too late to have such heavy stuff leh..so he ate em all by himself! (at my expense somemore!)

Cousin Liz treated us to dinner at this place in TTDI, simple yet delicious food and at affordable prices somemore! We can clearly see that it’s popular cos among the string of restaurants on the same row of shops…it was like the busiest on a weekday summore! Yes Ah Joo should b droolingz maximum by now…

Left - butter squid, really good  Right - Fried Noodles with Roast Pork (slurrpss)

Due to maximum busy-ness..I only managed to treat Aussie cousins (thousand apologies) Soo Kee prawn wonton kuey teow, directly opposite the Sea Park market. Yes this restaurant was featured in the Chui Leng food talk show on Saturday. The soup is so yummilicious, I usually drink em all!  Sorry no photos..cos I go there so often till I didn’t bother forgot to take photo tim…

Then Mr D invited us for dinner but had to be at his usual hang out which is so far away, Off Jln Ipoh, a restaurant he claims to have a certain number of shares..so have to eat there la…while we were on the way there. mom was saying he used to treat us for his birthdays but haven’t done that for quite some time…and that reminded me that his birthday was in October..yeah..the dinner was organised to celebrate his own birthday…(btw, it was way past his actual birthday!).  The food was so so nya…nothing to shout about…ok la but not really worth the distance we have to go…  However, since it was a treat..we shall not complain..

Only have a few photos but none of the food!!! hahahahaha..not very impressive so I didn’t bother la..

Wedding Part 3

November 8, 2007 · 19 Comments

The dinner was a typical Chinese wedding dinner held at a Chinese restaurant. It was a hassle as in all Chinese weddings as the guests DO NOT RSVP! Even if RSVP, the result still causes a major headache, e.g. those who said will come in a certain number either don’t turn up or turns up minus the number originally given or plus a few more heads!! Fixing up the list of guests and table setting is no joke and it’s almost impossible to place where the guests would like to sit. We can’t please everybody right? But some insensitive and childish people cannot understand the trouble we had to go through and give unnecessary complains and comments…..we can never like foresee what’s going to happen when invitations are given out a month in advance and shit things happens and guests may not turn up due to unforeseen circumstances. That’s why we have reserved tables and flexibility of reducing the tables with special arrangements with the restaurant. This was no easy task as I was manning the reception table of course with help from my very reliable and helpful sidekick and another friend of the groom. After most of the guests have arrived, I have to go on my rounds around the floor to check the seatings and make sure people move to empty tables to fill the spaces. And…..I was wearing killer heels too!

On top of that there was another wedding held at the same restaurant at the same time and we had a few blur sotongs guests walking over to our side when they should be going to the other side. In fact there was this couple who dropped an envelope (presuming as the gift for the bridal couple) and proceeded to the dinning area. Then like after quite some time they walked out and asked if it’s Mr & Mrs Ah Kau wedding. Of course it was not! Then they asked if they could take back their envelope but it was already transfered to the counting party (which was actually Apah)! Why I mentioned it was presuming a wedding gift? Well the sotongs mistaken guests actually just gave back the couple’s wedding invitation card with no other gifts!! I was like duhhhh! No wonder they didn’t insist on getting it back!! Blardy nerve to turn up with nothing but the invitation card! Just to let u know they came to eat and went back is it? Some more is some Dr..bla bla bla…

Anyway, the dinner went on smoothly, even though it started late, the dishes came out very fast and there was no delay in between. The quality of the food was of course good as compared to most hotels..so it was a pretty good decision to hold the dinner at a Chinese restaurant.

Relatives had a good time mingling and chatting, it’s really during such times that they catch up, otherwise…there’s really not many chances to do that…

The kids had a blast of course…oh missing one as he had to be sent home!

Since I was so busy running around I didn’t get to take that many picture..and we haven’t got the photos from the official photographer..don’t why they are taking so long..duhhh

Anyhow here are some of my relatives..my uncle came from China..and of course my cousins from Sydney, and also one from the US (she’s back for her brother’s wedding which is coming soon..).

The groom was running around and we only managed to get a family photo but it was by the official photographer! Shiats! There were a few groups of guests who were getting high on the liqueur (which was enough to sell, too bad I didn’t take a photo of them!) and they were also trying to make the groom drink. Yes, the groom was slightly on the drunk side…as guests were leaving, he tried to stop some of his friends, and even closed the main door and didn’t allow his friends to leave! Took them quite some time to convince him that there will be another drinking session..and then finally his school friends drinking session was the final event. However, the restaurant had to close up for the day..and so it was cut short and it continued outside the restaurant!! Then I was getting really tired and so was the poor bride! I quickly got some sober friends to try to convince him to go home and finally they managed to get him into my car. We brought in some plastic bags just in case and guess what the groom said? “Wei why the plastic bags? I’m not drunk ok…” that’s what they always say when they are indeed drunk,,,they are always not drunk!

The End!

The Wedding Part 2

November 4, 2007 · 31 Comments

We managed to settle the heng dai problem by last minute sending Apah, my cousin Liz Wong and another friend to go along to pick up the bride! Phew! They left on time and by the time they reached PJ they were like about half an hour early from the scheduled time. (what scheduled time? That brother of mine is so no 8 superstitious, got to adhere to the recommended good time to reach the house..). Therefore they stopped over at Taman Jaya and camwhored waited..

Then before the bridal party arrived, again the no.8 groom asked us to hang up the firecrackers to welcome the arrival of the bridal party..it was not an easy task and it was sooooo loud!! See all the geh pohs (busy body) looking on while my other brother tried to light up the firecrackers. BANG BANG BANG BAK BAK BAK BAK BAK!!!!

Here comes the bride…here comes the bride…n…groom…

The tea ceremony…

See the happy mother in law receiving the tea…

and the bystander observing the ceremony…

Then my son had a very important mission..again more traditional practices that requires a male child to jump onto the bridal bed…meaning..first born to the newly weds will be a boy la…aiya if I knew I should have asked some lil girls to jump on my bed when I got married la..cos Amah wanted girls first ma…hahhaha… Then Kieran had to break open the potty and then was asked to pee in it!!!

He didn’t want to do it at first but changed his mind after being offered another ang pow (red packet containing money)!! See the happy face after receiving his rewards!!

It is again traditional that the groom offer a roasted pig to the bride’s family to show the purity of the bride… and then the bride’s family will chop up the pig and send the head and tail portions back to the groom side, signifying that whatever we do should have a beginning and an ending…

The Wedding-Part 1

November 2, 2007 · 19 Comments

The stress involved….hence the high blood pressure pills and bee pollen..

Eat and be merry…..hence…the buffet plus assam laksa..prepared by none other than my cousin, Madam Yong Delights!

Yummy yummy…the best was the yam cake..it was like heavenly lor..specially made for us lor..muaks to How Yong!

This assam laksa soup was like soooo yummy that a certain guest drank 2 bowls of it!

The reason she came all the way from Sydney, Australia…cousin How Wai. Cousin How Lai was around but I didn’t get a picture of her..oopss…Thanks for coming and stress with us!!

The surprise in eve of the wedding…

The party had started…guests started pouring in…but…but…where’s the groom?? Then a friend of the groom came in and I thought he looked so familiar…doesn’t he look like a singer/actor from Taiwan?? Can u guess who? Forget the silly girl next to him cos she’s fantasizing pretending that he’s the real singer…

We decided to have our cousin cater for the occasion and mom helped with preparing 2 additional dishes, which was the Hakka Char Yoke (Hakka style pork dish) and the Kai Choy pot (stewed sour vege). The food was simply delicious we had loads of leftovers enough for the next day..but since it was our dear ol cousin catering, we were able to keep the food in her shop’s freezer! Phew!

I almost dropped dead after the event as I was busy helping preparing the food and also entertaining the guests while the groom was nowhere to be found and the groom’s older brother (also mine..unfortunately) was also late! It was a very stressful time for the groom as he’s been organising everything himself and the worst part, he forgot to arrange for his “hing dais” (”brothers” to go with him to pick up the bride)!!!

More of the wedding in my next post!! Stay tuned!
